Dr. Richardson performs the Cholecystectomy or gallbladder procedure using the da Vinci®  Single-Site™ Surgical System.

Dr. Richardson was the first general surgeon in Monroe County and the greater Rochester, New York area to use the da Vinci robotic surgical platform.

On May 5th 2012 Dr. Richardson was again first and currently remains the only surgeon in the region using the Single-Site  system to perform galllbadder procedures. This system is a state-of-the-art, robotic surgical platform that translates the surgeon’s hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of instruments inside your body.

Transumbilical "belly button"

The Single-Site system allows for easy transumbilical (“belly button”) entry, which is a minimally invasive  procedure that results in a virtually invisible scar.

During the procedure, your surgeon sits at the console using da Vinci’s vision system, which features a 3D-HD visualization monitor, allowing for enhanced
vision, precision, dexterity and control. Throughout the entire procedure, your surgeon is 100% in control of the da Vinci System.

All surgeries, including da Vinci Surgery, involve risk of major complications. Before you decide on surgery, discuss treatment options with your doctor. Understanding the risks of each treatment can help you make the best decision for your situation. View our Disclaimer and research notes
